Sochi Airport

The Mayor of Sochi, Vladimir Afanaskenov participated in the first Geberal Assembly of the World Union of Olympic Cities, which was held in Switzerland between October 9 and 11.

The Russian leader stressed on the efforts of educating Russians on the values of the Olympic Movement by providing facilities that enable Sochi residents to interact with the authorities and gather updates on the developments. This facility, an Olympic Joint information Center esatblished by the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee; would serve as the interactive platform.

The Mayor also went on to speak about the formation of new governmental departments that will be monitoring the entire infrastructural construction processes. In addition to this, he also mentioned that the Sochi 2014 Olympic Park is situated in a unique ecological area that is environmentally friendly. Federal target Programs to increase social awareness and healthy living amongst the millions of Russians. These programs are reportedly designed to prepare the
Sochi and Krasnodar region for the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics, which will inevitably convert them into a global Winter Sports hub and regional economic center.

It is believed that Sochi 2014 will act as a new milestone for International Winter Olympics.
