The Organising Committee for Russia’s first winter Games has travelled to the sunny climes of Rio de Janeiro to take part in the official London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games debriefing, even while the snow begins to settle on the mountain of Sochi.

Led by Sochi 2014 President and CEO Dmitry Chernyshenko, Sochi 2014 is taking the opportunity to join a full range of sessions organised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and International Paralympic Committee (IPC) which will help inform the staging and delivery of Sochi 2014.

The event is organised to provide Sochi 2014 and future Games organisers with the opportunity to learn from the experience and knowledge gained by their London counterparts during their seven years of preparation. During the debriefing, Sochi 2014 took part in a combination of plenary discussions and meetings covering a range of Games staging areas, including the planning, operational and technical elements of organising an Olympic Games, such as sport, accommodation, transport, culture, education and logistics. There were also held sessions led by those with a direct end-user experience of Games, with participants including the athletes, spectators, workforce and the media.

The Debriefing is a key part of the IOC’s transfer of knowledge program and is taking place from 17 to 21 November 2012 in Rio de Janeiro.
